Want to Make Sure Your Voice is Heard in the Upcoming Elections?

Here’s How to Make Sure It Is

The state’s Primary Elections and the United States General Election are fast approaching.  At the KJC Law Firm, LLC, we strongly believe that every single voice – and every single vote – counts, so if you’d like your voice heard in the upcoming elections, then here’s some helpful tips and information to make sure that happens.

  Are You Registered to Vote?

ELECTION DATE  VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Massachusetts State Primary: September 1st, 2020  August 22nd, 2020
General Election: November 3rd, 2020  October 24th2020

It only takes an average of 2 minutes to register to vote, so if you haven’t registered to vote yet, or you’re not sure if your voter registration is still active, or you just can’t remember, then these helpful links can you provide you with answers:

For Massachusetts residents, click here to register to vote online or check your voter registration status if you’re not sure.

Non-Massachusetts residents, check out Vote 411’s easy state by state search tool for all your voter registration questions, as well as election dates, polling locations, and more.

2020 Vote By Mail: How to Apply

For the first time ever, voters can now cast their ballots from the comfort of their homes.  In order to be eligible for the 2020 Vote by Mail option, you must complete the 2020 Vote by Mail Application, which can be downloaded here.

In order to cast your ballot via mail, the Application must be received by the following deadlines:

  • August 26th, 2020, for the MA State Primary
  • October 28th, 2020, for the General Election

Don’t Want to Wait to Cast Your Ballot? Early Voting is Available

Early voting is available by mail or in-person, and no excuse is required.  If you’d prefer the mail-in option, then follow the directions in the above “Vote by Mail” section.

Prefer in-person early voting? Then your early voting location can be found here, which will take place on the following dates:

  • For the MA State Primary à August 22nd – August 28th
  • For the General Election à October 17th – October 30th

Want to Vote by Absentee Ballot?

Absentee ballots must be requested in writing at least 4 business days before Election Day.  If you’re unable to show up at the polls on election day because of a disability, religious beliefs, or simply because you will be out of town, then you qualify for an absentee ballot.

You also should complete an absentee ballot if you are:

  • A military voter on active duty;
  • A MA Citizen residing out of the country;
  • A vote who has been admitted to the hospital within 1 week of the election;
  • A vote who has been quarantined due to Covid-19 within 1 week of the election; or
  • A voter who is incarcerated.

To download an Absentee Ballot Application, click here.  If you are unable to fill out an Absentee Ballot Application online, then you can call 1-800-462-VOTE or email elections@sec.state.ma.us.

Where Should I Go on Election Day?

If you’d like to vote in-person on election day but aren’t sure where to go, then you can find your designated polling place here
